Senior Project Manager

We have a requirement for a Senior Project Manager for one of our Federal Government clients.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Recognized university degree in Project Management (Masters in Project Management) or a current certified designation in project management (example: PMP from PMI).
Rated Requirements:
  • 5-10 years of experience in providing advice & expertise in the form of briefings, presentations, written reports, options and recommendations to senior management regarding the status of the project to resolve issues.
  • 5-10 years of experience managing and delivering large-scale IM/IT projects defined as having a minimum annual budget of $4M with a minimum of 150 person hours per year.
  • 5-10 years of experience working with cross functional experts in an IT organization to deliver projects with multiple releases on time within scope and budget.
  • 5-10 years of experience preparing detailed work plans for the project deliverables and taking corrective actions to ensure deadlines are met.
  • experience in the assessment and / or review of large scale projects, including assessment and management of risk, within the last 5-10 years.
Tasks, Activities, Deliverables and Milestones:
  1. Define and document the IMSD objectives for the project; determine budgetary requirements if required, the composition, roles and responsibilities for the project team.
  2. Meet in conference with stakeholders and other project managers and states problems in a form capable of being solved.
  3. Formulate statements of problems; establishes procedures for the development and implementation of significant, new or modified project elements to solve these problems, and obtain approval thereof.
  4. Prepare plans, charts, tables and diagrams to assist in analyzing or displaying problems; work with a variety of project management tools.
  5. Manage several Project Managers / leaders in a matrix environment, each responsible for an element of the project and its associated project team.
  6. Manage the project during the development, implementation and operations start-up by ensuring that resources are made available and that the project is developed and is operational within previously agreed time, cost and performance parameters.
  7. Report progress of the project on an ongoing basis and at scheduled points in the life cycle.
  8. Reviews and maintains project risk log and prepares mitigation strategies for action as necessary.
  9. Identify issues and options, recommend and take correction action as necessary to meet agreed-upon time, cost and performance expectations.
  10. Develop/prepare a transition plan. This includes knowledge transfer, transitioning open project issues that are material in the operational world, organizing and archiving project documentation appropriately to facilitate access by the operational team.
  11. Log / conduct an effective "lessons learned" session at the end of the project
  12. Obtain project sign-off from client organization.
